Energy-Efficient Cottage Among Vineyards in Spain33 photos
Modern cottage among vineyards, presented by Ramon Esteve Estudio, is located in the municipality of Fontanarés, Spain.
The new spatial concept has been applied to the idea of standard rural housing with a gable roof. The central line, typical for traditional houses, was stretched and enclosed in a long concrete shell. The building consists of two monolithic blocks, one made of white concrete; the other formed by structural surfaces from thermally modified pine wood.
A pathway leading to the plot is planted with olive trees. The building is visible in the background, hidden among cypress, poplar, and pine thickets. Access inside is possible through one of the wooden structures.
The central space features a spacious common area with a large fireplace. Luxurious views of picturesque surroundings are framed by interior finishing in pine planks.
A wide porch completes the layout, offering a relaxation area that opens on one side to a pine forest and on the other to vineyards. The appearance of the house is fully transformed using pine wood—its structures, formwork for concrete pouring, and furniture.
Energy savings in the building are optimized thanks to materials and excellent thermal insulation made from mineral wool. Additionally, the control system best utilizes natural lighting and makes energy efficiency one of the undeniable advantages of the cottage.
