House-Pavilion on a Stockholm Archipelago Island14 photos
Studio Tham & Videgård Arkitekter designed a country house on one of the small islands of the Stockholm archipelago, Sweden.
The architects proposed a layout with the space divided into two parts. A narrow opening in the central wall, containing a fireplace, leads to bedrooms, bathroom and storage oriented towards the forest. The large living room with kitchen and dining area faces the sea. The living room has access to three terraces; large sliding doors let in plenty of light and air.
The unusual silhouette of the building is formed by a high pointed roof with concave slopes, making the house look like a tent. This form also evokes traditional Swedish pavilion-houses—light structures skillfully integrated into the landscape. As a result, the external appearance of the house conveys an atmosphere speaking of calm and carefree summer life.
