Townhouse for Young Family in Brooklyn
A two-story house with an area of 93 square meters in Brooklyn, USA, was completely renovated by the studio Office of Architecture.
As a result, the house gained two additional floors: the upper level was extended, where the owners' bedroom is located, and a basement floor was dug out with a foyer and service rooms.
The first floor contains an open-plan public space with a living room, dining room, kitchen, and library, from which there are exits to both gardens — in the front and back of the house. The second floor includes children's bedrooms and a bathroom.
The materials used throughout the interior are modest, natural, and unpretentious: unfinished steel and walnut wood combined with polished Carrara marble and hexagonal ceramic tiles.
The result is a house that is not only larger in size than the previous one, but also more vibrant in character — a home that gives its inhabitants the opportunity to stay in the city, which demands resourcefulness from its residents.
