House with Garden in Inner Courtyard in Seattle
The Laurelhurst residence project, presented by MW|Works, was realized in Seattle, USA. The layout of the house designed by Ibsen Nelson in 1961 is very well thought out, but the character of spatial relationships does not suit the daily life of new owners. The first item on the list of owner preferences is expanding physical and visual connections between rooms and the area beyond the building.
Floor-to-ceiling windows replaced single-pane ones. Upgraded insulation and high-efficiency heated flooring significantly reduced energy consumption. The improved design makes the home more suitable for living, according to the owners' wishes. The overall interior style reflects a respectful approach to the finest modern achievements of the original design.
