House Among Dunes in Rotterdam
The villa H, designed by the studio BERG + KLEIN in Hook van Holland, Rotterdam, Netherlands, is an elegant loft of 269 square meters hidden among coastal dunes.
Villa H is a horizontal building with a single vertical element — a staircase placed between two concrete walls, connecting the basement floor, main level, and roof terrace.
A key feature of the project is the cantilevered edges of the house, which give it horizontal articulation and create a striking frame for appreciating the landscape.
The building follows the "conservatory" typology with a façade open to the garden. Large windows, three meters high, are inserted into wooden frames that create a warm atmosphere. When opened, they form an opening nearly 7 meters wide, connecting the living room to the garden.
Wooden sunshades that slide along the entire perimeter of the house provide shade and ensure privacy for the glazed bathroom and bedroom.
