Villa on the Edge of the Forest Near Prague
Villa on the Edge of the Forest Near Prague
Forest fairy villa, designed by Mjölk architects, stands at the edge of a large, dense forest not far from Prague, Czech Republic. The clients chose an excellent location deep in the woods near a very old village that historically served as a source of labor for tending to imperial forest lands.
The roof covers two buildings. One is small and houses a workshop, guest area, and garage. The other is a full-family home. On the lower level lies a spacious living area with a living room, kitchen, office, and bedroom. Above, repeating the layout of the lower level, children's rooms are arranged—unique spaces rising above the roof. The children's rooms are identical. Each has its own bathroom and a small wardrobe.
The roof plane encompasses the spaces between both buildings, including all their cozy corners. Its multi-level surface harmonizes with the surrounding landscape and emphasizes the contrast between picturesque surroundings and the interior.
