Grands Jardins Residence in Charlevoix Region, Canada
The Grands Jardins Residence, designed by Bourgeois Lechasseur Architects, is located in the heart of the Canadian Charlevoix region, specifically in Petit-Rivière-Saint-François, near a ski resort. The house sits on a mountain slope, on a rocky, forested plot with a view of the Saint Lawrence River. One of the main challenges of the project was to position the building in a way that best combines its isolation and scenic views from the windows facing south and toward the river. Since the house is built on a steep slope, passersby can see the upper level from the street, while three floors elegantly rise above ground level along the river, showcasing a facade impressive in its play of angles and glass.
