Family House by Moloney Architects Studio in Australia
The studio Moloney Architects presented an interesting private house in Australia. The family residence, reflecting a socially active lifestyle of its clients, is surrounded by picturesque shrubs that create an intimate atmosphere. Named for its architectural form Two Halves (meaning "two halves" in English), the building features two pavilions that appear to stand separately from each other but are actually closely connected. The design resolves this duality by separating the open common area from the quiet solitude of adjacent bedrooms and bathrooms.
In the neighboring pavilion, bedrooms and bathrooms are located. As a contrast to the open common areas facing outward, bedrooms and bathrooms were designed as private spaces. This reminds the clients of the value of time spent together.
For interior finishing, designers used birch plywood—a warm and tactile material that enhances the impression of monolithic unusual ceilings. As a result, a textured interior was created, becoming a self-contained spatial expression of the designers' vision.
