Two Villas Near Mumbai
Two residences, designed by SPASM Design Architects studio in close proximity to each other, are located in the small town of Alibaug on the Arabian Sea coast in India. The villas are intended for two Mumbai families wishing to find refuge in this quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The regional climate is characterized by high humidity and heat, which influenced the local architectural style. Houses here are typically built around inner courtyards, providing them with cross-ventilation through convection, which is the best solution in tropical climates. Following the same approach, the SPASM designers organized both houses around internal courtyards, with one of them being a single-story volume and the other a two-story structure featuring an additional pavilion guest room and pool on the upper level.
