House in a Cozy Suburb of Sydney24 photos
A new project by Luigi Rosselli Architects — a private house located in the cozy suburb of Sydney Hunter's Hill, Australia. The area was developed in the 19th century — mainly featuring sandstone mansions and Victorian wooden houses surrounded by gardens and parks with century-old trees.
Stone masonry combines with extensive glazing and hidden vertical wooden louvers. The uniqueness of the house is given by curved wavy surfaces that soften the angles of the street facade.
Designed for a peaceful and comfortable family life, the layout of the house is very simple. Each room on the first floor, where the public areas are located, opens to a terrace or garden thanks to large glass sliding doors. In addition, from the entrance itself, one can smoothly move through the living room, while a barely noticeable wooden door spanning from floor to ceiling, which fully retracts into the wall cavity, can separate the open-plan area from the rest of the house when needed.
All this modern functionality, intended for comfortable living, could remain sterile and boring without the dark side: descend the stairs to the basement and you will discover the underground level of the house with a car collection, home cinema, workshop, and wine cellar.
