Villa on São Miguel Island in Portugal
Rosa Muerta — such is the name of a 76 square meter villa, designed by the studio Arco Mais - Arquitectura e Construção in Rabu di Pai, a small town in Portugal. Located on the northern coast of São Miguel island, the site offers an open view over surrounding fields and forests.
The lightweight concrete box barely touches the ground, and living spaces are separated from the outside environment by a row of sliding glass panels.
Externally, the building expresses itself through the interplay of light and shadow, and its mass appears and disappears depending on the viewing angle or simply due to the movement of clouds.
