Apartment with Three Floors, 128 Square Meters in Budapest
Three-level apartment by GASPARBONTA has been transformed from an unusual structure into a modern living space.
The presence of three floors and one entrance door simplifies the issue of common and private zones; naturally, the first floor became the day area, including the entrance hall, hallway, kitchen and dining room.
Since one of the main highlights of the apartment is the picturesque terrace located on the third level, it was necessary to connect it with the common area when creating the private block: bedroom with an additional terrace and bathroom on the second floor. After that, there was an opportunity to go further and create a beautiful cozy living room under the roof of the building, installing two staircases that freely connected all volumes with each other.
It was very easy to select materials for the textured wooden and brick surfaces. Adding concrete and steel became an obvious choice, creating a striking contrast. Personal belongings of the owner filled the rooms organically, perfectly fitting into the concept.
For furniture, stairs and walls, a lot of repurposed old wood was needed. Originally, these were wooden elements of the old building's construction. But designers' opinion that old materials can be used as new was quite timely.
