Bungalow in Sydney
The renovation project of a classic bungalow from the 1930s located in a residential area in northern Sydney, Australia, carried out by the Architect Prineas studio, included partial re-planning of the existing house and construction of a new extension.
Due to extremely limited budget, the project was focused on maintaining similar construction principles, ensuring simple and efficient building. Roof shape modifications were explored by architects as a way to improve lighting in the extension.
The new spaces, where the living and dining areas are located, connect the house with its green surroundings through sliding glass doors. Compact skylights and high ceilings of complex configuration create a loft-like space.
The project used the simplest materials. Fresh white walls are complemented by black aluminum window frames and interior details. The floor is made of slightly polished structural slab. A spacious wooden terrace extends the indoor spaces into the outdoor area.
