Country House in Germany
The studio Thomas Fabrinsky Freier Architekt BDA designed a country house in Bammental, Germany, overcoming serious challenges related to the complex site.
The building consists of two volumes united by a common sloped roof.
From the street side, the house features a solid closed facade. Entering through the wide gates, one steps into a passage leading to a garden with a pool. The living room with kitchen, dining area, and built-in sofas in a concrete rectangular recess is also oriented toward this space. The fireplace, just like the TV and kitchen appliances, is built into the wall. A free-standing island creates a spatial focal point, emphasizing the dominant white color in the interior.
All service functions are located in a zone one meter wide extending along the outer wall of the building.
The living room space seamlessly transitions into a wide, wooden deck-covered terrace with a pool due to its fully glazed facade with sliding doors.
The attic houses two bedrooms, one of which features a bathtub as a standalone furniture piece in the center of the room; a separate cozy bathroom is located nearby.
From the outside, the house is perceived as part of the landscape—like a stone in the forest, which was the architects' goal.
