Tiny House for Apple Design Director
The Sonoma project is one of the successful applications of the concept of a 'wee house', developed by Alchemy studio. Created for the design director of Apple stores, who is also an architect, the house meets the highest standards of style and finish. It consists of two minimalist volumes on concrete foundations, installed on the slope of a picturesque hill covered with twisted windswept oaks near Santa Rosa — a city in California, USA.
The main structure includes a white oak box located in the center with a bed placed inside. The open common area (dining room — living room — kitchen) is located on one side of this box, while the toilet and shower are on the other.
The smaller guest house is a shortened version of the main structure. A large walk-in closet made of white oak forms the wall of the bathroom, providing both storage space and privacy.
Both structures feature steel frameworks with sliding glass walls about three meters in height and interiors finished with Brazilian walnut and oak wood.
Externally, the volumes are clad in weather-resistant steel that not only provides protection from atmospheric conditions but also harmonizes with the surrounding environment — sun-warmed grass and twisted tree trunks of coastal trees.
