Private House in Nature on the Japanese Island
The project authors—architects from CAPD Studio—aimed to use the winning landscape to the fullest, considering that the natural environment of the building is its main advantage that should be highlighted and emphasized without over-decorating it. This approach is reflected in the minimalist rigor and simplicity of both the architectural composition and interior design.
The house, with a total area of nearly 160 square meters, is oriented from east to west, providing advantages in lighting, especially during summer. The first basement floor serves as a pedestal for the main volume of the building—the second floor, which houses the primary living spaces. Ribbon glazing encircles the house along its entire perimeter. This allows for enjoying 360-degree views from the residence while maintaining sufficient privacy of internal rooms from outsiders. The continuous window band creates a sense of calm in the solid rectangular mass, making the large building appear light and harmoniously fit into its surroundings.
