House on Lake Shore in Canada
A 185 square meter rural residence project located on the shore of a picturesque lake in Canada was developed by Cibinel Architecture studio, drawing upon local traditions of wooden and stone cottage construction. Facing picturesque sunsets and dramatic storm clouds, the Beach House opens its arms to the vast sky and calm water. In perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape, both interior and exterior finishes feature cedar and spruce wood — timeless building materials that exude natural beauty.
Horizontal wooden cladding on the walls replicates the traditional method of finishing facades used in local cottages. Cedar planks are left uncolored or unstained, allowing the wood to silver with age. The richness of wood as a construction material is also showcased in the interior, complemented by the elegance of steel and concrete: sturdy spruce roof beams are secured to custom-made steel trusses; the staircase and fireplace are integrated into a rough concrete wall.
