House for a Family with Children in the Mountains of Switzerland
The studio Kunik de Morsier architectes presented a project of a country house located in the mountain range of Jura in Switzerland. Architects designed a cozy 160 sq. meter space with attention to the specifics of geographical location and needs of the client's family. The first floor of the house was adapted to the natural terrain by creating a system of podiums of varying heights. They echo the shape of the surrounding stone formations and provide an opportunity to make the living room and kitchen space open. The house facade does not have a defined orientation but rather faces all 360 degrees for the best view of the lake, mountains and surrounding fields. An original and innovative construction system was used in building, where wooden walls and frame are combined and interlock with each other. Larch, fir and pine are used both inside and outside, giving the building its unique character.
