Hohlen House / Jochen Specht9 photos
The reconstructed house by studio Jochen Specht was built in 1961 and is located on a picturesque hill above Dornbirn, Austria. The plot, protected from the elevation by a small forest, offers a remarkable view of the Rhine delta and Bodensee lake. In 2012, the 85 sqm house, which had become too cramped for its four inhabitants, underwent a major renovation. The walls of the old house were preserved, and a new timber-aluminum frame structure was built at a certain distance around it, becoming the basis of the house with an updated facade and new roof. All rooms in the house are equipped with heated floors, and a new geothermal heat pump with ground probes replaced the existing oil-fired boiler.
