"If a client doesn't have any favorite story, it's very difficult to design an interior. An interior with a story is an interior filled with life," says Ukrainian designer Olga Fradina from Olga Fradina Interior Design. This project came together intuitively and creatively in large part thanks to the long-standing friendship between the designer and the client. Also, her deep passion for her work (that favorite story) — flower therapy, Aura-Soma, psychological consultations, various types of massage, yoga and meditation.
The client had long dreamed of a new studio for her consultations. Everything started with a recent redesign of the yoga hall under Olga Fradina's guidance, which inspired her to realize her dream sooner. When a 78 square meter apartment for the studio was found, the only wish was functional fulfillment — having a kitchen, reception and tea zone, a massage room adjacent to the shower and a consultation room for Aura-Soma with a special shelf. The only limitation was the budget.
In choosing the style, the client fully trusted the designer, who does not like working with clean styles, considering them boring and flat in modern life. Embracing the Eastern philosophy of interior design, where natural beauty, natural materials and organic forms are valued, the designer selected ingredients for this mix based on the client's creative personality and areas of activity. As a result, a story was formed that can be best described with the phrase "Scandinavian Zen." Here are elements of industrial style, minimalism, complex and deep colors, concise furniture, original prints by Olga Fradina, her origami, ceramics and calligraphy, as well as decor from the client's collection and items bought at Ikea and Sia. The client watched with some suspicion during the process as concrete, copper pipes and plywood appeared in the interior — such solutions were unfamiliar to her. But trusting the designer, she didn't interfere in the work and only took an active part in selecting decor, suggesting to incorporate into the new interior such items as an African mask, copper cookware, an antique chair and other treasured pieces from her collection.
