Two apartments of 100 square meters each in Barcelona

The project of interior reconstruction of an old medical center in Barcelona, located on the ground floor with access to an inner courtyard with a garden, was proposed by the Spanish studio PMAM. The flexible layout of the space allowed creating two independent apartments, each with 100 square meters.

Another important aspect is cost reduction and environmental impact consideration. The original Silestone flooring, left over from the medical center, was preserved and restored. Wooden window frames with double glazing provide increased safety and thermal comfort. Kitchens and bathrooms were renovated in close proximity to their original locations, which allowed avoiding the need for installation far from existing drains and water and electrical supply systems. All construction materials were carefully selected with priority given to non-polluting substances, and collaboration with local construction organizations helped avoid unnecessary transportation costs.
