Designed by Lucas y Hernández-Gil, this 200 square meter apartment is located in a prestigious area of Madrid, Spain, between Prado Avenue and the Literary Quarter. The building, constructed by architect Gutierrez Soto, in which the residence is located, dates back to the 1950s and is considered one of the earliest examples of using concrete construction in residential buildings in Madrid.
"We left the concrete structure exposed, allowing ourselves that flexibility we were aiming for. The goal of the project was a concept that balances on the edge between a home and a picture gallery, without losing the sense of scale and comfort of interior space," explain the designers.
Oak wood was chosen for the floors and marble for the bathrooms – two materials that were already present in the building. The color palette was kept completely neutral, allowing light to shine on the collection's artworks and photographs.
The interior includes exclusive furniture, including pieces designed by renowned architects such as Le Corbusier and Mendes da Rocha.
Bookshelves, beds and their headboards, together with sinks and wardrobes were specially developed for this residence by Lucas y Hernández-Gil studio.
