A 150-square-meter house designed by Wohlgemuth & Pafumi Architekten in the small town of Zillisberg, Switzerland, perfectly embodies a family lifestyle intertwined with modern comfort.
The design process started from the inside out. The architects first planned the interior spaces, determined room layouts and how they should connect, and then created the external form. At the same time, window openings were carefully designed to offer views of the surrounding landscape.
The entrance on the ground floor leads into a hallway with a staircase to the main floor. The first door on the left opens to the hostess's office. Here, a shamanic style prevails. A small private room for the hosts includes a bar, a sauna behind a glass partition, and a beautiful sofa.
The large open-plan living space—consisting of the living room, kitchen, and dining area—has a double-height ceiling and provides a stunning view of the surroundings. Special attention was paid to proportions. The space needed to be spacious yet not overly large, ensuring comfort for the inhabitants. The living room's glazed doors open onto a terrace with a swimming pool.
The highlight of the hosts' bedroom is a wall clad in beautiful natural wood and a standalone oval bathtub.
On the second floor are three rooms—two for children and one for guests.
A distinctive feature of the house is the presence of exposed concrete and wood in its interior, along with attention to materials as a whole and how they interact with one another.
