Rinihue House by Domo Habitare + Piffardi Aravena Architects

The Rinihue House is a simply magnificent home designed in collaboration between Domo Habitare and Piffardi Aravena Architects. It is located in Chile, with a view of Lake Rinihue.

We faced a great challenge considering the grandeur and spaciousness of this remote area. We needed to create order for project implementation, so we decided to contrast this boundless nature by proposing a layout that spans both the longitudinal and transverse axis, giving structure to the program.

The rest was to open views from different rooms to the outstanding panoramic view of Lake Rinihue, which illuminates each of these points, integrating nature into the users' living environment. The work led by the great 'master builder' allowed us to use people and materials from the start of the project, primarily local ones.

Workers encountered both stormy weather conditions and difficult access to the site. The house's structural system is made of metal profiles and SIP panels covered with zinc-aluminum cladding. Together they provide sufficient resilience to withstand the harshest conditions in the region—winds up to 150 km/h.
