Barra House by SAINZ Arquitetura
SAINZ Arquitetura designed the Barra House in Brazil, in Brasilia. Located in a very sunny and densely built residential area, the design goal was to create a private living space with a strong connection to external elements. Therefore, this residence is a single-story house open to a beautiful green courtyard with a pool.

The Barra House is located in Brasilia — the central-western part of Brazil — within a very sunny and densely built residential complex, where neighbors are close together and the plot is narrow.
At the bottom of the land plot, the Box House was built, our 2012 project which received national and international awards, was widely published, and became the beginning of our studio. Ten years have passed, and the client's lifestyle has changed — this new house meets the new requirements.
A young couple living in Brazil, who grew up in Portugal and have always lived in the Brazilian capital, own several businesses in progress and are expecting their first child… This house was built to meet this new stage of life.
The material palette accompanies the house, originally built at the back (finished with concrete, natural wood, steel, glass, and hydraulic tile) with a certain strictness in terms of structure and volume.
Our goal in this project was to create the 'right' architecture that corresponds to the built area, used technologies, correct volumetric orientation of internal rooms, ventilation and natural lighting, and of course... an example of good architectural practices.
