Second Life of Old Furniture: 9 Amazing Examples
Don't rush to throw away old furniture and accessories! They can be used in modern interiors. See how designers do it
We've already told about several great transformations. We continue to inspire with renovations and show how designers blend modern interiors with vintage.
Mirror from Cabinet Parts
This apartment was decorated by designer Alexandra Dotsenko for herself. The heart of the project was a large mirror made from cabinet parts of a country house from the 1950s, which were saved during demolition, carefully assembled by a craftsman and transported to Moscow.

This interior features a lot of IKEA, but it didn't prevent designer Malika Boranbaeva from using vintage elements. In the living room, a modern velvet sofa was complemented by a pair of vintage chairs in the 60s style. They fit perfectly into the decor and added uniqueness and comfort to the interior.

In this Moscow trash apartment, decorators actively used vintage elements but maintained a balance to avoid slipping into retro and creating a 'grandmother's' apartment. For wall decoration in the living room, Sanderson wallpapers were used, and an accent wall above the sofa was decorated with posters-affiches from the 1920s of the last century. The client found them on eBay.

Designer Eugenia Kozjukova offered her clients an interesting alternative to a coffee table – using an old worn leather suitcase that her grandmother brought from China in 1939. The clients liked the idea, and what about you?

The sink cabinet and mirror were made from an antique console that used to stand in the bedroom as a dressing table. Actress and blogger Anastasia Tsvetaeva decided to give the furniture a second life and had it restored. A hole was made for the drain in the table, and the mirror was separated and hung on the wall.

The solid wardrobe is part of the hallway and is 100 years old. Its exterior was left unchanged, while the inside was completely renovated. It turned out very functional: one section has shelves for shoes, a central section features a hanger for outerwear, and the third section is a utility area.
Design: Pavel FoteevDisc Retro Phone
The disc retro phone was once a communication tool, but now it's an interesting alternative to modern decor. A nightstand in the bedroom of this townhouse was decorated with a small painting and a black wired phone.
Design: Elena TrinitatskayaBath from the 1950s
Customers wanted a modern interior with a sense of history, as if the house was built not yesterday but had a story. To achieve this, designer Ksenia Naletova used vintage elements. For example, the bathtub on the second floor was made in the 1950s. Its vintage form was liked, so it was re-enamelled and installed by the window.
