Furniture Sets
Any set of identical furniture, whether it's a bed, nightstand, and wardrobe in the bedroom or a dresser, sofa, and sideboard in the living room, simply screams that it's been way too long since you updated your interior.
The trend of combining furniture in different styles has been popular in recent years and doesn't seem to be going away. However, fixing such an issue can be fun! Try mixing your sets with those from a cottage or, if you don't have another place, trade with a friend who has the same problem.
Artificial Fruits and FlowersAlthough in the 2000s it was fun to guess whether the plum in that basket and the flower in that vase were real, the dust accumulating on them wasn't particularly amusing. Even though manufacturers sometimes achieve an impressive resemblance, today we would rather enjoy a bouquet of fresh flowers and a bowl of strawberries, even if they don't stay on the table all day long.
Multi-Level Ceilings (especially with lighting)This recent fashion makes the room feel heavy and is completely inappropriate for small apartments. Today, designers strive for simplicity and vote for flat surfaces.
Showy LuxuryEmpire, baroque, classicism — historical styles ruled the design world for a long time, but to bring them to life with taste, you need at least a decent amount of space. In our apartments, we usually see the following picture. A bedroom where for a person there are two paths: between a bulky bed with golden embellishments and a substantial dresser with carved details, and between that same bed and a wardrobe with intricate handles.
Vertical BlindsThey not only, to say the least, start to irritate when you open and close them, but they also indicate that the owner of such an interior doesn't really care about comfort. It's better to buy simple monochrome curtains so that your room doesn't look like an office from the past.
Printed Apron on the KitchenSuch prints behind glass were especially popular at the beginning of the 2000s. People placed real fruit gardens, aquariums, and cosmic spaces on the kitchen walls. Today, monochrome materials are in vogue — tiles, ceramic granite, or simply a wall painted with water-resistant washable paint.
Glass BlocksJust a year ago, this material was on the list of forbidden items. But now more and more designers are using glass blocks in their projects. You could say they have gotten a second life. For example, designer Ekaterina Ulanova used blue glass blocks on the wall between the kitchen and bathroom in her project. The blocks themselves are vintage; the designer bought them on 'Avito'.
