Beautiful Apartment of an Artist in Stockholm
This is how a perfect Scandinavian interior should look
In this wonderful Scandinavian apartment lives the illustrator Emily Icke with her husband and son. The family moved to Stockholm just three years ago, previously living in the suburbs.
When I first saw this apartment, I was breathless — I had never seen so much light. It poured from large floor-to-ceiling windows and filled every space. That is exactly why we decided to leave our old house and finally move.

Extensive work was done — Emily and Fredrik did a full renovation with reconfiguration. The kitchen was merged with the living room — it created a spacious and bright area for relaxation and creativity. They also decorated a small bedroom and children's room for their son Igor.

They decided to replace the old floors throughout all rooms — some were damaged after a long-ago flood in the kitchen. They chose light-colored wooden planks — walking on such floors is pleasant for both adults and children.

The choice of color palette was not made immediately. At that time, it was trendy to paint the walls gray, but Emily rejected this idea — she wanted the space to remain light and airy.
In the end, the couple chose a light blue tone — in daylight it appears almost white and yet does not look too cold.
We were so exhausted from the reconfiguration and floor replacement that we simply picked a color we liked and used it in all rooms. And that was an excellent decision!

For the wall color, they selected furniture and decor — it was important for them that all tones harmonized with each other. Emily’s artwork also adorned the interior — she draws a lot at home.
Sometimes I work on ten sketches at once: I draw or cut out shapes from paper. Then I move around the house and 'try them on' here and there, like assembling a puzzle. Eventually, each piece finds its place.

According to Emily, the setup in the apartment brings her happiness and peace — exactly what she dreamed of. This is influenced not only by the calm color palette but also by most items being made from natural wood, and the cozy atmosphere provided by textiles: carpets, cushions, throws, and light, unobtrusive curtains in the bedroom and children's room.
