Enchanted Apartment on a Roof in Sweden
Malmö is the warmest city in Sweden, and who would have thought: here there are four beaches. Right next to one of them is this two-room flat. Designers, inspired by the proximity to the beach, decided to make the apartment gently blue and use daylight to the fullest.

Mansard apartments always look great because of their slanted forms, but to make these shapes work well, one needs to be careful with color. Roofs don't like dark colors or large patterns that visually reduce space. But pure white was also not desired for this apartment. In the end, in the living room (which is also the kitchen), they chose the color of ivory for the walls, and in the bedroom, they made them white-blue. The floor is covered with light parquet boards throughout.

The kitchen, living room, and dining area are joined together. The standout feature here is the sky-blue cabinet. Glossy countertops and an island reflect and highlight the blue kitchen.

The kitchen is separated from the dining and living areas by gray metal beams — a good way to zone the space. The wooden dining table is complemented by a bright sisal rug. An open balcony fills the room with light and sea breeze.

To prevent the slanted walls from weighing down the space, low furniture was placed underneath: armchairs, mini dressers, shelves, benches, and sofa beds. This is a general rule for furnishing mansard apartments.

The bedroom continues the same color palette as in the kitchen-living room: gray textiles, white-blue walls, and light wood. The main bedroom is divided into two functional zones: work and sleeping. These are clearly separated by a ceiling beam. The children's bedroom is a good example of how to arrange furniture in a mansard apartment so that it doesn't take up space.

The bathroom is small and modest. However, it has everything necessary.
