It's Not Too Late: What to Plant in the Garden in July
According to experts, it's time to pay attention to garden plants in pots with closed root systems. It's important to choose the right fertilizers and not forget about abundant watering to help plants survive the heat. The experts from Derevo Park explain what can be planted right now.
Roses
In July roses are already blooming, and there's no danger of overexposure. Strong and well-established ones will adapt well to their new location if you prepare the planting hole in advance and take proper care of them.
Perfect combination for a flower bed: roses + aromatic herbs (sage, catnip, lavender), which can also be planted in July. Such a flower bed looks impressive, and the scent of aromatic herbs repels pests from roses.
To fill the lower layer until the flower bed expands, you can plant cosmos seeds: they sprout quickly and bloom beautifully, and will also complement the overall look.

Gravelats, astilbes, and irises
Play with the color palette by choosing the right shades based on already blooming buds: if you plant these plants in spring, you might make color mistakes.
Beautiful together are Siberian iris and lemon lily.

Japanese spiraeas
Among the most low-maintenance and long-flowering plants. They come in various shades: from pure white and soft pink (Alpina, Little Princess) to rich burgundy (Darts Red).
Interesting effects can be achieved by sorting and planting plants in color waves.

Astilbe in varieties
A low-maintenance and impressive perennial that looks great even after flowering.
There are over a hundred varieties of this plant. If color harmony is important to you, it's better to plant them in summer during blooming rather than buy them 'blindly'.
Astilbe is a good companion for roses. It shades the lower parts of the bush and helps retain moisture.

Conifers and others
You can plant almost any conifer variety with a closed root system (i.e., those sold in pots) on your plot. However, it's best to do this when you have a prepared area for planting, proper fertilization, and shade (if you're planning to plant in full sun).

As for garden crops: you won't be able to harvest a great radish crop, but it's better to focus on different types of lettuce and aromatic herbs.
