What to do if the wrong room shapes make it hard to install storage systems? And how to deal with insufficient light? We show examples from a Swedish studio apartment

The area of this apartment is only 36 square meters. But it has almost everything needed for living. And anything missing can always be added. We tell how.

This color perfectly masks awkward angled spaces in the apartment. Besides, it visually expands rooms and adds light — there's not much of it here due to small windows.

Also unifies and expands the space. The floor is dark to contrast with the snow-white walls and draw attention away from poorly arranged layouts.

Contrast elements help divert attention from incorrect layout and add dynamism to a monochrome interior.

Graphics in black and white frames, a pair of contrasting colored chairs and coffee tables added dynamism. Windows and fireplace were decorated similarly, emphasizing black window sills and fireplace shelves.

This apartment has a problem: it will be rented out, and tenants will have to solve this issue themselves. A wardrobe could have been placed in the hallway, but it's blocked by a vaulted ceiling.

We would have solved this issue like this: instead of a regular bench in the hallway, we would install a small shelf and cabinet system. It can also be enhanced with a mirror and seating area. We would choose a sofa and bed with internal storage spaces and add shelves in the bedroom.
