I Want to Live There: This Cottage Has Just 33 m²
See how Swedish designers managed to arrange a whole house in a studio area and find space for an open terrace
This cottage is located on the outskirts of Stockholm, so here it's more of a countryside atmosphere. Someone might be surprised that they decided to build an entire house on such a modest area, but it's no wonder people say: Swedes can create comfort in any situation.
The layout of the cottage is as simple as possible. On the first floor, upon entering, there's a small living room, followed by a full kitchen with a dining area. The improvised second floor (actually a loft) is entirely dedicated to the bedroom.

Strangely enough, it feels quite spacious inside. Designers used every possible trick to visually expand the space. For example, they painted the walls white and added the décor in cool tones (dark green sofa, grey kitchen cabinet).
Furniture was placed along the walls to keep the center of the room always free. Thanks to French windows spanning the whole wall, it's always bright here.

When decorating the bedroom upstairs, they followed the same principle: simpler is better. They limited themselves to just a bed and a couple of bedside tables. When residents move in, they can add storage solutions according to their taste.

We recommend reading the whole post to the end and checking out the main feature of this cottage — the open terrace. This cozy relaxation area compensates for the lack of space in the living room — in good weather, it can be used all day long — hosting family dinners, receiving guests, and even working.
