Boring Gray: Interior That Won't Get Old
Gray color can be unobtrusive and vibrant, strict and cozy. On the example of this design, we explain how to 'tame' it and use it in interior design
This three-room apartment is located in the picturesque area of Stockholm called Västertorp. There are many parks and cozy cottages here, so the view from the window usually brings good fortune to everyone.
The apartment's area is 89 square meters, so there's plenty of space. There is a spacious living room with a tile stove, a kitchen-dining room with a large dining table, a bedroom, a children's room, a storage room, a wardrobe, and a cozy open balcony.

The apartment interior is built on a contrast between light and dark gray shades.
Light tones visually expand the space, so designers use them in small rooms. Dark gray shades, as in the living room and children's room, on the contrary, narrow the space and add coziness. At the same time, the interior does not seem too dark — large windows save the day.

To avoid a monochromatic look, gray tones are diluted with beige and sand shades — they make the atmosphere warmer and cozier. The same can be said about the tile stove and ceiling moldings.
By the way, the bedroom turned out completely beige — this color helps relax and lift your mood even on cloudy weather.

As for the kitchen, it is more contrasting due to the graphite-tone cabinet with small brass elements. All this blends perfectly with a marble apron and light-toned countertop.
By the way, the cabinet itself is quite spacious — usually Scandinavian interiors emphasize open storage, but in this case, all the utensils were hidden behind minimalist doors.

By the way, there are no storage problems in this apartment at all. Clothes are conveniently stored in the wardrobe — it's easy to access from the bedroom. Household items are hidden in the storage room.
Thanks to this, the balcony was freed from storage and turned into a lounge area. Here you can relax on a warm evening and watch the sunset.
