Owners of this studio approached the renovation seriously: they lived in the apartment for two years before starting the renovation. And so thoughtfully everything was planned that they completed the work in just two months.

Owners of this studio in Sydney are married couple Sofia and Josh Bowers. Sofia is an interior designer, Josh is a stylist. After purchasing their new home, the couple decided not to rush with the renovation and lived in the apartment for two years, carefully considering every detail.

The layout turned out to be unsuitable, and there was not much space, so we planned the renovation for a full twenty months! But when it came to actually doing it, they finished in just two.

Since the apartment is small, the driving force for Sofia and Josh was not beauty but functionality. To make the space feel more spacious, the couple decided to remove the wall between the kitchen and living room.

Now there's enough space on the tiny kitchen for a dishwasher and washing machine, as well as an oven and an additional freezer. Even under the dining table, there's room for storage.

Space zoning in the kitchen-living room area was achieved through finishing touches: the kitchen is located on a small podium tiled in ivory color. In the living room area, the floor is wooden planks.

The interior was decorated in Art Deco style — light floors and walls made a perfect backdrop for vibrant decor. Furniture was chosen in the same era's style, and attention was paid to details — color contrasts are everywhere in this interior.

If you look closely, you can notice how ashen-pink chair legs on the kitchen match peach tones in the living room. Grey kitchen cabinets and tiles in a matching tone blend with the sofa’s upholstery.

For us, a holistic approach was important so that one room 'worked' with another. Therefore, every interior item, from dining chairs to towels, was carefully chosen to complement each other.

In the bedroom, compared to the overall color palette, more muted tones were used. However, here too, brass fixtures echo the bright details on the kitchen counter.

And in the bathroom, the main accent was a countertop under the sink made of Norwegian pink marble. The shower partition made from ribbed glass echoes the transparent doors of kitchen cabinets. Just like salmon-colored tiles in the bathroom — they can also be seen on the kitchen backsplash.

We finished the renovation about a year ago. If we could rewind time, we wouldn’t change anything.
