5 mistakes in the renovation of a Scandinavian duplex
Recently we told about the apartment of bloggers Kati and Kostya. The guys made all the plans themselves, prepared a design project, and bought all the materials. But not everything went as smoothly: there were also mistakes here. We tell you what to pay attention to when hiring a construction crew.
Incorrect installation of pass-through switches in the corridor
The guys planned several lighting scenarios and even provided for two-switches at the entrance door and bedroom to turn lights on at one end of the corridor and off at another without having to return. But after the renovation, it turned out that not all lights work and one doesn't function at all.
Solution: always discuss all lighting scenarios in advance with the electrician and monitor their work. These kinds of errors can still be corrected during the renovation.
Low-quality light fixtures
One of the lights in the bathroom melted down and now all of them have to be replaced (the guys bought the fixtures as a set). In addition, the holes in the suspended ceiling were made precisely for these lights, so the ceiling also has to be reinstalled.
Solution: always check the equipment before buying — read reviews online. Even if it's something as minor as light fixtures.
Uneven walls
During the renovation, workers made a niche in the corridor for a wardrobe. But they didn't level the walls properly and a small gap formed between the ceiling and the wardrobe, which had to be covered with a trim.
Solution: always double-check the work of builders so you don't have to regret anything later.
Incorrect drain for the mixer
In the bathroom, Kati and Kostya made a drain for a standard mixer. Later at the store, they accidentally saw an unusual shower system and decided to take it. It turned out that the drain wasn't compatible with this system.
Solution: buy plumbing fixtures first, then make drains accordingly.

Inappropriate joint between baseboard and laminate
The workers glued the baseboards directly to the laminate, which was laid as a single continuous layer. Due to temperature changes, the floor can sometimes "move"NaN
