How to Update Your Garden Before the Summer Season?
Spring is an excellent time for changes. Just a couple of touches, and your garden will look brand new. Experts from Derevo Park share what you need to do.
Plan Your Actions
This applies to planting and landscaping the garden itself. Make sure that fence renovations or paving repairs don’t interfere with bringing in new plants. First, finish construction and understand which new spots for plants you now have.
Even better — consult professionals to save money and avoid unpleasant surprises.

Trim shrubs and deciduous trees. Just remember that not all plants can be pruned in spring, only those that bloom on new growth this year. For example, it's not advisable to shape lilac, spirea, hydrangea or any kind of maple into cubes or spheres.
However, these plants respond well to shaping: currant, ferns, late-blooming spireas and many conifers. After consulting with professionals, some species can be cut back severely, almost to the stump.
After such pruning, wilted ferns or some willow varieties will produce new shoots again, and gooseberry will yield a good harvest.

Replace traditional garden beds with a decorative garden
Multi-level raised beds with stone or wood edging look much more stylish. And they’re easier to maintain — no need to bend over low.
Nowadays, modular "gardens" are popular where aromatic herbs (basil, rosemary, parsley, thyme, fennel) are placed in mobile units: planters on wheels, stylized carts, portable boxes and containers. You can grow even plants with edible and ornamental fruits: large-fruited strawberries, blackberries, cherry tomatoes, green peas.

Install a Fire Pit
Evenings are still cool, and you want to sit outside. An outdoor fire pit or portable fireplace will come in handy — it makes the plot more cozy.
The fire pit is elevated above ground and built to protect you from smoke. Mobile versions can be moved around the plot or even placed on a terrace — thanks to the protective layer, nothing will catch fire.

Use Water Compositions
This could be a small feature, like a stone basin near the house, or several elements. The stillness of water creates an interesting reflection effect, almost like a mirror. This visually expands the space.
Water usually needs to be connected or refilled periodically. For winter, drain the basin and it becomes a sculpture. You agree — that’s better than an empty pool.
Add Details
Lately, gardens look more like apartment interiors: outdoor furniture resembles indoor pieces, and lighting often uses suspended fixtures instead of lanterns.

Decorate the Terrace
If your garden lacks bulbs planted in autumn (crocuses, daffodils, snowdrops and other spring bulbs), buy already-made bulb arrangements from a garden center and place them on the open terrace.
