Small 2-Room Apartment with Country-Style Interior Like a Country House
Traditional Scandinavian palette, IKEA furniture, lots of wood and greenery—these elements can be found in any Swedish apartment. However, the designers at real estate agency Alvhem managed to use these typical design techniques and elements so that a regular 2-room apartment in Goteborg looks like a fragment of a cozy countryside cottage.

To be fair, it all came together not only through the designers' efforts. The 42-square-meter apartment was given to them with decent initial conditions: 3-meter-high ceilings, many angled but convenient workspaces, and four large windows. Plus, the apartment came with wooden floors that were later painted white to match the walls. This already suggested a resemblance to a spacious Swedish countryside house.

Next came the right finishing touches, thematic furniture, and a “countryside” decor. They didn’t stint on wood—used it for the kitchen-living room partition, the kitchen countertop, and a spacious storage system in the hallway. The latter also included a niche for hooks for clothes and a comfortable spot where you can sit to put on shoes or wait for latecomers on a walk.

To create a country atmosphere, they used wooden benches, wicker baskets, clay dishes, and decor. The floors were covered with carpets featuring minimalist designs, and the dining table was adorned with a textured textile tablecloth.

And of course, they added iconic furniture that no modern Scandinavian interior is complete without. In this apartment, they used the universal Ant Chair designed by Arne Jacobsen. These chairs are not only for comfort and style: the reddish tones and distinct wood texture only enhance the cozy, homey vibe of a countryside home that is also accessible in the city.
