Updating Interior for Winter
The atmosphere in your home depends on you, not the season. Add cozy textiles, update lighting fixtures, and frame a new painting – simple steps accessible to everyone.
While nature doesn't delight us with bright, juicy colors and warmth, take the initiative into your own hands. Change textiles and decor, hang garlands – share ideas with Leroy Merlin experts.
1. Stock Up on Cozy Throws
When not in winter, wrapping yourself in soft, warm throws and blankets? Wool, cashmere, fur, faux fur, velvet – such textiles transform any interior and make it 'enveloping.' Use throws not only in the bedroom, but place a couple on the sofa in the living room – guests will immediately feel at home.

2. Hang Dense Textiles at Windows
If you currently have semi-transparent curtains, add dense curtains with lining: they will make your home warmer and protect it from drafts. Choose more dense and soft fabrics – velvet, wool, silk. Ideally, you should have two sets of window textiles: summer and winter. You can easily and quickly transform your interior for the upcoming season.

3. Lay Down a Warm Rug
Winter is an excellent time to think about a fluffy, warm rug in your interior. In our climate, it is very appropriate: not only does it keep you warm, but also adds playfulness of textures and colors to the setting – if you choose a bright variant. Pay attention to rugs with proper shapes and geometric patterns – they are trendy now.

4. Create Several Lighting Scenarios
Winter is a great time for multi-level lighting: in the evening, it's not necessary to switch on general lighting; instead, use ambient light from wall sconces or floor lamps. Consider replacing regular bulbs with retro-style models? Add a table lamp or decorative light fixture made of materials that beautifully refract light – glass, chrome-plated metal, crystal – they will fill the interior with beautiful reflections.

5. Change Posters and Paintings
Paintings and photographs hanging on the walls can also get boring. Replace them with thematic images featuring snow, New Year themes, winter landscapes – even such a small detail helps refresh your familiar interior. Or, on the contrary, hang something bright to lift your mood.

6. Garland
Garlands are useful for decorating your home before New Year celebrations. But don’t remove them afterwards: inside transparent glass vases or around the perimeter of a large mirror, garlands will add the right atmosphere to feel warmth and comfort within your home walls.
