The overall impression of an interior is formed by small details. To create a beautiful design, you don't always need to spend on a major renovation: sometimes it's enough to fix individual shortcomings. We've compiled a shortlist of the most effective and easy-to-implement ideas that will help you update your interior in an original and high-quality way.
1. Level the Walls from Top to Bottom
You don't have to level the walls with gypsum board and make them perfectly vertical. To save money, you can align the walls at a 90-degree angle only where they meet the floor and ceiling, so that the baseboards fit snugly to the surface.

2. Hide Finish Defects
Thin paper wallpapers adhere best to perfectly smooth surfaces, but fabric or vinyl wallpapers can cover up wall imperfections. To draw attention away from an imperfect surface, use patterned coatings or colorful photo wallpapers.

3. Plaster the Walls
Another budget-friendly but stylish wall finishing option is to apply plaster in a careless, uneven manner, and then coat the surface with a thin layer of paint once it has dried. If you use acrylic or silicone-based paint, this method is suitable even for kitchens and bathrooms.

4. Mask Defects
If the budget doesn't allow for a full renovation, it's easy to hide finishing flaws. Cover wall defects with framed pictures and mirrors, attach lightweight textiles to the ceiling above the bed, or cover old floors with original woven rugs - these budget-friendly and simple tricks will quickly update your interior.

5. Play with Baseboards
Many finishing tasks can be done yourself - for example, attach baseboards using a drill and screwdriver. Even the cheapest baseboard will look more sophisticated if it is made two-level, that is, a thin horizontal beam is attached parallel to the main baseboard. You can achieve an expressive effect by painting a cheap baseboard with bright paint.

6. Combine Materials
Ceramic tiles are a striking decorative material, but such wall decor usually hits the budget hard. To save money without compromising results, combine different finishing materials: lay tiles only on about 1.5 meters from the floor. Paint or wallpaper the remaining part of the wall.

7. Make a Mosaic
Another way to save on tiles is to buy several damaged samples at a big discount and make a mosaic. To prevent the adhesive from showing, don't forget to fill in the gaps between tile pieces.

8. Simulate Metal Finish
Metal elements such as gold, silver, or bronze always look expensive and luxurious in interiors. However, wall panels, furniture, or metal decor are a luxury item that's not in the budget. There is an easy solution: paint wooden, glass, or plastic surfaces with acrylic paint that has a metallic tone. To ensure even color, the element must be polished before painting.

9. Replace Furniture Hardware
To create a stylish interior, it's not necessary to spend large sums on furniture sets. Choose simple wooden models and invest in hardware: for example, change drawer handles to more original ones, and the setup will transform without major costs.

10. Choose Budget-Friendly Textiles
It's no secret that good fabrics differ not only in variety of textures but also in high cost. Choose roll curtains, lightweight cotton, or textile blinds instead of bulky drapes: this way you not only save a substantial amount but also make the space brighter - more light will come through semi-closed windows.
