Television in Interior Design: 3 Rules for Placement
A TV is not just an information source but also an interior element. How to integrate it into your home’s overall style? It’s important that it looks good and comfortable for everyone. Typically, TVs are placed in the living room, bedroom, or kitchen. Some people even have one in every room. Let’s explore different TV placement options.

1. TV in the Living Room Usually, the whole family and guests gather here. Ideally, the TV screen should face the entrance. If it's placed on a console against a wall or in a wardrobe niche, arrange seating in a semi-circle for optimal viewing.
The viewing distance should be no less than 1.5 meters. The screen height should be around 1 meter or higher, ideally at eye level.
Avoid placing the TV directly facing a window—sunlight will reflect and create glare. Instead, place it on a console away from the window to reduce eye strain.
It’s best if the background wall (curtains, wallpaper) is a dark, solid color. This improves visibility. Don’t forget to plan seating for all family members and a few extra spots for guests.

2. TV in the Bedroom Although experts don’t recommend placing a TV in the bedroom, few people follow this advice. Still, it’s wise to consider expert recommendations—especially for those who care about health and fitness. Watching TV lying down can contribute to weight gain, worsen vision due to poor viewing angles, and strain neck vertebrae from improper pillow positioning.
Fortunately, there are clear guidelines for proper bedroom TV installation. If followed, you can avoid negative side effects. Mount the TV high, directly opposite the bed. This reduces body fatigue and keeps the neck relaxed. Use a firm pillow for comfortable viewing of shows and films.
Important: Do not hang anything heavier than 30 kg on a gypsum wall—this could cause collapse. If you plan to install a large TV, plan the location in advance.
If the wall is made of blocks or bricks, use adjustable or rigid mounting brackets.

3. TV on the Kitchen Wall If the kitchen is separated from the living room, most homemakers don’t want to miss world events. That’s why a TV has become a standard feature in modern kitchens. First, it shouldn’t clash with the overall style or interfere with daily tasks. Therefore, choose a compact model.
Crucially, place it away from the stove and sink to avoid damage from grease and water. Never place it on the refrigerator—vibrations can harm the device.
The best solution for the kitchen is wall mounting in a niche (if the layout allows). More commonly, wall brackets are used. Again, avoid placing it opposite a window—glare will occur.
Keep the viewing distance at least 1.5 meters. Ideally, place it at eye level. Since most people stand while cooking, mount the TV higher accordingly.

Additional Tips: Maintain safe access to the sides and back of the TV. If watching at night, use indirect lighting—this is better for your eyes.
Approach TV installation with care—this ensures a high-quality viewing experience without harming your health. Enjoy your viewing!
