Indigo color and thoughtful zoning: how they designed this 66 sqm Stalinist apartment in Moscow
Summary
Details
The foundation of interior decoration lies in the pursuit of naturalness, elegant textures, and materials that remain relevant regardless of changing trends. The starting point for the entire color scheme was a deep indigo shade. It was around this shade that the interior’s palette and combination of materials and textures were developed.
Most of the walls in the apartment are painted. According to the designer, this is a deliberate choice: paint helps highlight the architecture of the space without overwhelming it with additional textures. Meanwhile, the walls and ceilings are enhanced with gypsum cornices, moldings, and baseboards. These elements create an architectural rhythm, add depth to the interior, and make it visually more expressive.
Fixed furniture and storage systems are custom-made, and soft furniture is also crafted individuallyto meet the specific needs and lifestyles of clients. The interior layout of each cabinet and wardrobe is carefully planned: the placement of shelves, drawers, hangers, and other storage elements. It was important not only to provide sufficient space but also to make it as convenient as possible for daily use.
