Tiamo House by Dom Architect Studio
Designed by Dom Architect Studio, the Tiamo House is a stunning modern residence located in Ha Tinh, Vietnam. It was conceived to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city while enjoying nature, remaining close to urban life.

The client wanted to build an interior space hidden from the noise and chaos of the street, yet maintaining a connection with nature. A separate living space with green gardens and aquariums where family members can observe animals, direct contact with nature – this is a feature essential for urban housing. The existing plot has only a few mature trees that need to be preserved, an important task in our research process.
The idea of a multi-layered space spreading from the exterior to the interior and vice versa gradually takes shape. Spaces are classified and organized in horizontal layers from outside to inside, including the first level – auxiliary spaces such as garage, toilet, staircase and small gardens. The garage now acts as a large front porch for the main space; the second level – the primary living area includes hall, kitchen and living room. The third level is an extended terrace; the final layer – a garden with many trees and a small aquarium.

With such a layered spatial organization, depth and volume are created within the house. The main living area is centered, opening up for maximum natural airflow through long verandas. However, direct solar light penetration into the interior is moderate, which suits living spaces better. The second floor was designed in a minimalist style with bedroom and auxiliary room blocks, optimizing space usage. These two functional blocks are connected by a system of iron staircases and an airy wooden bridge that is light and interesting.
The facade design was carefully calculated, considering that extreme weather conditions cause flooding more and more frequently each year, but still following the general urban plan. The front garden and garage are raised not too high, enough for convenient access. Then the main building is elevated above and connected to it via a staircase with several steps. This solution helps all the main space remain safe during rainy seasons, while harmoniously combining interior and exterior spaces of the house. Moreover, views from inside to outside and vice versa become more interesting.
The owner is a photographer with a preference for raw materials and craftsmanship. Therefore, the main materials used in this project are fired brick, polished stone, natural wood and concrete. The house reflects the lifestyle of those living in it as well as a deep care for the construction and completion process.
