Sierra by BOSS.architecture
BOSS.architecture designed Sierra, an extraordinary restaurant located on a hill with views of Lone Tree, Colorado. The exterior is uniquely crafted to ensure guests can enjoy stunning panoramas whether inside or outside the restaurant.

Situated atop a hill with views of Lone Tree, Colorado, Sierra is a restaurant housed in a specially constructed building designed to embrace the landscape and create a dynamic dinner experience. Blending classic architectural forms such as A-frame structures and an interior courtyard, it makes a timeless modern statement.
Fourteen steel A-frame structures create the distinctive form of the restaurant. The lower portion of the A-frames extends beyond the building and rests on a concrete retaining wall on the slope. Half of the A-frames enclose the main dining hall, while the other half continues onto an outdoor terrace. In this zone, a wavy corrugated metal roof becomes perforated to create diffused lighting during the day and serve as a lantern at night.
Stretching to the edge of the slope, the A-frame structure is visible from the nearby road. This becomes the main element and signature of the restaurant.
On the opposite side of the building, a large courtyard creates a cozy space for outdoor dining. Spacious roof overhangs provide shelter along the building, while steel window frames on the courtyard wall offer wind protection without compromising views. The entry sequence winds around the courtyard, creating a transitional zone between parking and restaurant entrance.
Exposed red brick continues from the exterior to the interior, while wooden floors, copper foil tables, and exposed steel elements of the corrugated metal create a warm color palette. The restaurant's interior is built around an open kitchen. Wood-fired pizza and grills serve as central focal points, with two layers of copper tables allowing guests to watch chefs at work.
