Chalet in Cortina d'Ampezzo

When luxury and craftsmanship are skillfully and organically combined, a unique emotional effect is created. This is exactly what happened in the project realized by Outline Studio 74 in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

On one side, it is the classic taste of Cortina, the Queen of the Dolomites Alps, with its characteristic architectural elements; on the other, a new and linear approach of contemporary design.

The two floors of the house are connected by an impressive staircase that appears to float in mid-air, as the steps made from solid wood and illuminated by small LED lights are attached to the wall only on one side.

Large windows offering views of the snow-capped peaks of the Dolomites and the valley of d'Ampezzo flood the living room with natural light. Meanwhile, aged larch wood wraps around complex modernist forms of the interior, creating an organic environment where traditional natural materials blend skillfully with artificial ones—such as transparent plastic chairs.

Expensive Louis Vuitton suitcases and carpets made from exotic skins evoke the style of the 70s, while deer antlers on the wall remind us of the alpine origins of the home. A romantic fireplace, clad in wooden paneling, completes the creation of a warm and welcoming atmosphere typical of mountain chalets.

Bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, represent a concentration of earthy and sensual style: wooden paneling and wardrobes made from solid wood, sinks carved from single pieces of stone imported from Indonesia, and hand-carved frames create an unmatched and refined aura for the home.
