Beach House on the Ocean Shore in Chile
Schmidt Arquitectos Asociados project bureau presented a beach house on the ocean shore for a family couple with adult children, located in the coastal town of Cañete, Chile. It is built on a gentle plot with spectacular views and sunsets but is exposed to the cold southwest wind. The 320 square meter residence maximizes the surrounding landscape, and its spacious interior is crafted from clean and simple materials.
The main floor includes a living room, dining area, and kitchen. Below it is the service zone, while the upper level houses the master bedroom. The eastern wing contains children's and guest rooms, which are fully independent and connected to the main part of the house via an external corridor, reinforcing the idea that the terrace-beach is always at the center of all trajectories, gatherings, and events.
The house represents a traditional reinforced concrete structure; its simplicity supports the concept of tranquility and relaxation. There are no difficult-to-maintain materials, unnecessary worries are excluded, and opportunities to enjoy life are provided. To compensate for the cold of concrete walls and floors, the roof is made of laminated wooden beams, and the ceilings are covered with plywood panels. The finishing and furniture are also made from natural materials.
