Classic and Modern: Beautiful Mix of Styles in Australian Home Interior20 photos
On Lewisham Road in Melbourne, we are greeted by a century-old grand facade, but the interior of this house is far more versatile than it appears at first glance. The historic part of the house with stained glass, moldings, and solemn fireplaces is complemented by a modern addition—featuring large windows, an abundance of wood, and contemporary furniture. The hallway is designed so that the entire house can be seen through from the front door to the backyard. Thanks to skylights and panoramic windows in the kitchen and living room, there is plenty of light. There's ample space here to accommodate large furniture, a kitchen island, and shelving—none of which clutter the area. Rooms flow seamlessly into the patio and backyard, which despite its modest size, is perfectly suited for family gatherings. The bedroom and several other rooms were designed in a classic style with modern elements: fireplaces, parquet floors, and moldings remain. The contrast between old and new is the main highlight of this home, and the owners didn't even have to choose which style they preferred more!
