House in Silicon Valley
The Tree House project, realized by the architectural bureau Aidlin Darling Design, is a modern private house in Silicon Valley, USA. The family residence with an area of 545 square meters is located in the suburban area of Palo Alto, California. The house is designed as several interconnected volumes, finished with galvanized panels, cedar boards, plaster, and glass.
The L-shaped two-story residence is surrounded by mature trees and evergreen oaks, which play an important role in the design. The house sits on a concrete foundation—an answer to the high groundwater levels on the site. The straight volumes of the house are intended to erase the boundaries between interior and exterior spaces. A spacious shaded terrace in the back yard area blends into the relaxation zone near the pool. A balcony with glass walls is designed on the upper level.
Inside, the house features a spatial composition that ensures natural ventilation and a chimney effect, where hot air rises and escapes outdoors. Rooms are designed to dialogue with the landscape and provide opportunities for outdoor living.
