The World's First Underwater Villa at a Maldives Hotel
Muraka is a luxurious two-story villa at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort in the Maldives. Its unique feature is a main bedroom submerged nearly 5 meters underwater, complete with a bathroom and wardrobe. Guests can now observe marine life in the Indian Ocean while performing daily rituals or simply relaxing. The villa was designed by local architect Ahmed Saleem in collaboration with New York-based firm Yuji Yamazaki Architecture. The name translates to "coral," and the nightly rate during peak season is $22,000. The package includes services of a private chef and a dedicated boat for island exploration.
Maldives islands are renowned for their pristine beaches with breathtaking ocean views. But that's only half the beauty of the atolls. The other half lies beneath the water surface. Visitors can now enjoy the underwater ecosystem of the Arabian Sea without diving or leaving their villa.
