House in Harmony with Nature in Japan
Kidosaki Architects Studio presented the Yokouchi residence in Karuidzava, Japan. The area of the country house is 212 square meters. The plot, surrounded by deciduous forests next to a golf course, implied the construction of a single-story building no taller than the tree tops, not standing out against neighboring buildings.
The main feature of the house is a cornice 1.7 meters deep, whose details create an illusion of a roof floating above the building. The interior space is characterized by openness and lack of barriers. Each room offers a view of green trees through panoramic windows, as if frames enclosing pictures painted by nature itself.
As the primary material, architects chose wood to make harmony with the surrounding environment even more natural.
