Dom-Topped House by Designer Timothy Oulton + (Video)8 photos
The dom-topped house by Timothy Oulton is a unique space that gives designers the opportunity to create in an inspiring and cozy environment in the heart of a beautiful Lichi garden. The entrance to the house is through a monolithic concrete ring called the Moon Gate — an element of traditional Chinese architecture. The central dome house and seven adjacent circular buildings were constructed to have minimal impact on the environment. The site is located next to a remarkable four-story exhibition hall in Gaoming, southern China. The main building's shell is fully self-supporting, free from columns or pillars, and the entire structure is built to German ecological house standards using certified FSC wood. The interior spaces were carefully planned by the creators. The curved lines of specially custom-made furniture match the rounded dome of the building. The worn-out sofa was re-equipped with soft curves, and the stainless steel and marble kitchen gently embraces the curved wall. In this inviting room with a relaxed and cozy atmosphere, people can rest and converse.
